CURRENT PROJECTS

Master’s thesis: Source of Expertise in Scoring Key Development as a Determinant of the Nature of the Constructs Measured (2007-present)

  • I am examining whether the identity, background, and values of different groups of subject matter experts affects the scoring judgments they make, which in turn affects the constructs measured by a test based on that scoring key.
  • Committee: Drs. Neal Schmitt, Ann Marie Ryan, and Fred Oswald

Group for Research and Assessment of Student Potential (GRASP) (2007-present)

  • I am working with Drs. Neal Schmitt, Fred Oswald, and Tim Pleskac on collecting predictor and outcome data for several longitudinal samples of incoming college students at 17 universities.  We are examining a variety of different variables with the goal of predicting performance and turnover of college students.  This work is funded by the College Board.

Personalization of Training Transfer (2008-present)

·         I am working with Drs. Kevin Ford and Steve Yelon to examine how people personalize their training and transfer experiences. We collected predictor measures from a group of police executives in the Fall of 2008 and a follow-up outcome survey in Spring 2009. We will be conducting qualitative interviews with a sub-group of participants in May 2009.

Examining how to Measure Training Transfer (2008-present)

  • I am working with Drs. Kevin Ford and Steve Yelon to determine how training transfer has been measured in the past, how accurate the measurement has been, and how it should be measured in the future.

Critique of Measurement in the study of Cross-Cultural Counseling Competence (2009-present)

·         I am working with Dr. Fred Leong to review the research literature about cross-cultural counseling competency. We are especially interested in critiquing the lack of criterion-related validity studies of existing measures of cross-cultural counseling competency.

Development of Training in Gage Calibration and Adjustment, Great Lakes Industries, Jackson, Michigan (2009-present)

·         I am working with Jason Huang and Tara Rench to develop a training program for employees at the production plant of an engineering and manufacturing company.

Predicting the Behavior of College Students Based on their Behavior as High School Students (2008-present)

  • I am working with Dr. Fred Oswald to determine whether and how the self-reported behavior of high school students predicts the behavior of those students during college.
